Mind the Gap successfully developed a series of participatory developmental workshops with a focus on Leadership, Diversity & Inclusion. The training formed part of a wider Leadership Development Programme at Arla Foods.
The module was so successful it has become a permanent element of the Arla Leadership Programme and has been repeated 3 times to date with more sessions planned.
Customer: Arla Foods is home to some of the UK’s leading and lagerst supplier of butter, milk and cheese in the country.
Participants: Senior managers and leaders
Length: The training was delivered over 3 consecutive days
Content: The purpose of the training was to ensure that, through the appropriate leadership behaviour, Arla Foods successfully deliver their current and future business priorities.
The workshops used forum theatre techniques to explore a variety of situations based around the subject of Difference: What happens when someone different comes into your life?
At the end of the workshop series, the Leaders presented their learning through a piece of Forum Theatre to an invited audience of peers and friends.
Aims: The focus of the project was to explore, through theatre, a range of learning objectives:
- Addressing difference – what it means and how to manage it
- Applying Business skills in a new environment, inc. team building, project planning, problem solving, negotiation, interview techniques, disability awareness
- To strip away business language, dress code, systems, environment and challenge participants to produce a new product (a performance) in a new way with people they would not usually work with.
- To utilise emotional intelligence to put leadership skills in practice to achieve success.
- Growing personal skills, inc. Creativity, confidence, presentation, working equally with people with disabilities, and with people who think and work differently
Outcomes: The project was a resounding success.
